Online Music Theory & History Courses
A few years ago I started developing a site that offers free online content for classical music theory and history. The content would be organized into courses that follow the Royal Conservatory of Music (Canada) Theory and History Syllabus. This choice of following the R.C.M. syllabus was dictated by my professional career: I have taught the R.C.M. program to countless students over the years.
One of my primary goals for this site is to provide this material to users for free for self-study. The site now boasts four complete courses covering the Rudiments of Music and an overview of classical music history.
Users of the site are mostly adult students with little or modest traditional training in classical music. Many use the site’s resources for personal interest, but some are upgrading their music theory for post-secondary studies. I personally work with several of these kinds of students as a tutor, mostly for free, or very little.
As with many people, and many projects, I started evdokimoff.net for fun and to see where it would go. The site has now reached the level where I have regular users, and students – most of who I tutor for free or very little money. I am also very excited that an American University now accepts my courses as fulfilling their requirements for a Music Therapy program!
The current courses need some maintenance, as does the site itself. I really would like to get a Harmony course up as well. In order to be able to set aside the time to do the necessary work, I need some funds. It is you, the users of evdokimoff.net that can help out in its development with your $$s.
