This Preparatory Rudiments course is a gentle introduction to the Rudiments of Music Theory. It is suitable for new musicians with little to no formal training in music theory. Adult learners are welcome.

In the Rudiments of Music, students learn about basic music notation, and concepts such as clefs, time signatures, rhythms intervals and chords.

The program follows the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus for Preparatory Rudiments.

The course is organised into five topics:

  1. Pitch
  2. Rhythm & Meter
  3. Scales
  4. Intervals
  5. Chords: Triads

Included in the course is:

  • A glossary of basic musical terms and signs
  • A set of downloadable worksheets for each lesson.
  • A marking service is available for your worksheets included for registered students.

Guests can  access the course material for free.

If you enrol in this course for $149 for 60 days, your  fee includes feedback on the provided worksheets. You will have access to an instructor (me) via the online messaging system for the duration of your registration. Enrolled students will need a way of printing out worksheets, and scanning completed worksheets as a pdf or png file. Please see  Completing & Submitting Assignments.
