Advanced Rudiments of Music (Level 8 Theory Equivalent)

Prerequisites:Intermediate Rudiments

Advanced Rudiments further explores Rudiments of Music. In the Rudiments of Music, students learn about basic music notation, and concepts such as clefs, time signatures, rhythms intervals and chords.

Advanced Rudiments builds on the Intermediate Rudiments program. Students should be able to negotiate both the treble clef and the bass clef, be comfortable with all key signatures, and both simple and compound time signatures.

The material follows the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus for Advanced Rudiments crossover syllabus.

The course is organised into seven topics:

  2. Rhythm & Meter
  3. Scales
  4. Intervals
  5. Harmony
  6. Cadences
  7. Transposition

Included in this resource is a glossary of required musical terms that expand on those in Intermediate Rudiments.
