Basic Rudiments of Music
Introduction to Basic Rudiments
This Basic Rudiments resource is a gentle introduction to the Rudiments of Music Theory. In the Rudiments of Music, students learn about basic music notation, and concepts such as clefs, time signatures, rhythms, intervals and chords. Students wishing to enrol in a course with an instructor should visit the main course page at http://evdokimoff.net.
Basic Rudiments builds on the Preparatory Rudiments program. Students should be able to negotiate both the treble clef and the bass clef up to three ledger lines. If in doubt, review the material in Preparatory Rudiments. Included in this introductory unit is a glossary of musical terms and other study resources that students may use.
The material in this course follows the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus 2009 for Basic Rudiments. We are currently transitioning all of our student resources and courses to the new syllabus.
