If you are writing an R.C.M. History 1 exam next week, you are probably reviewing your notes. You may wish to use the following outline when you are studying the required composers.
- Composer's full name
- date of birth and death
- art period
- basic biography
- musical contributions and style
- Titles of three pieces, each from a different genre, if possible. Choose titles that are not from the list of required pieces.
Try to associate an important or unusual fact for each composer. Tagging a composer with a single idea can help you recall their facts while under pressure, like in an exam.
For example, if you are studying J.S. Bach, think about him as having several different jobs over his career. Chopin was a French/Polish composer writing only piano music, and so on.
