Italian Terms, Part 1

The remaining terms that we will study will be Italian musical terms.

  • ad libitum, ad lib.: at the liberty of the performer
  • agitato: agitated
  • allargando, allarg.: broadening, becoming slower
  • arco: for stringed instruments, resume bowing after a pizzicato, passage
  • attaca: proceed without a break
  • calando: becoming slower and softer
  • comodo: at a comfortable, easy tempo
  • con fuoco: with fire
